Yoon's Yoga Bliss Retreat at The Yoga Lodge |
Today, after breakfast, I took a quick shower and pulled on my yoga clothes. I decided to go to yoga class after a week-long hiatus. The thing is, I sometimes think, "I don't really need to go to yoga today, there's lots of other things I can do."
But when I got there and I found my place on the floor with a dozen other people, I felt so grateful.
I could have been a million other places, but I decided to tune-in and go to yoga today.
Once I started moving my body and feeling myself in my body without thoughts, I knew this wasn't just something on the list of things to do for the day. THIS WAS IT.
The class was moving to the rhythm of the music and each other. This doesn't happen if I am all alone doing yoga. This happens when a group of people are together exchanging energy.
This made me realize how interconnected we all are and how I choose to spend my time.
I want to spend my time with people who are inspiring and uplifting. I want to exchange energy with people who want to be the highest version of themselves.
Today we were all there moving together and I felt expanded out in all directions. I did not feel my limited mind or body. I felt that anything was possible.
I can't wait for our 3rd annual yoga, writing and collaging retreat at The Yoga Lodge coming up August 9-11. I know it will be an amazing opportunity to open up and connect to like-minded people. This year, we have people flying in from other states to join! I'm excited to meet everyone. We have about three spots left for anyone who is interested. Have you ever done something that you almost didn't do and now are so grateful that you did? What was it?
For so many years I've stayed away from Yoga. In spite of the fact that one of my best friends is an instructor and I know many people who speak to its wonders. But recently I hurt my knee and I started doing chair yoga (all I could manage). Why did I not do this sooner. I'm a new convert. Love it. How great that you're going to that conference.
ReplyDeleteYoga is one of things that brings to mind so many different ideas, thoughts and opinions. It's not until you actually "do" it that it starts to make sense. Glad you are enjoying it! I feel so lucky to have it in my life too!

ReplyDeleteI went to Yoon's yoga class this morning too, and relate to what you wrote. I felt so appreciative afterwards, and throughout the day, for the shared group experience of body awareness and connection. I also contemplated the brief story he shared, for quite awhile after. I recently stumbled upon your book (and Yoon's yoga) and was so deeply inspired by your honesty, courage, and willingness to share your story. I loved reading it and didn't want it to end. Thank you for inspiring me. See you at the Whidbey retreat!
